Synopsis

A retired police detective (James Stewart) terrified of high places following the death of a fellow officer. He is hired by an old acquaintance to follow his wife, the beautiful and mysterious Madeleine (Kim Novak) who is acting strangely. Is she the reincarnation of her suicidal grandmother? Is she mad? Or is something else at play? As our detective falls deeper in love, he becomes determined to find out.

Hitchcock’s near peerless psychological thriller presents a very different Jimmy Stewart to the one we know and love. A man torn by love, loss and a crippling fear. The American Film Institute has voted Vertigo as the No.1 mystery of all time.
