Synopsis

A washed up writer, Holly Martins (Cotton), turns up in post-war Vienna to find his friend, Harry Lime (Welles), dead. Was it an accident, murder, or is something far darker taking place? And who is the mysterious Third Man? Falling in love on the way, Martins decides to put himself in harm’s way and find out.

Masterfully directed by Carol Reed with Graham Greene’s taut screenplay, Robert Krasker’s atmospheric lighting and Anton Karas’s unforgettable zither score, The Third Man is one of the 20th century’s truly great thrillers.
