Synopsis
It’s the end of the world when simultaneous US and Soviet nuclear bombs tilt the world off its axis and hurtling towards the sun. As climate change goes off the chart, it’s Daily Express reporter Bill Maguire (Leo McKern) who discovers the truth. But is it already too late?
Winner of the 1962 BAFTA award for Best Screenplay, this global warming nightmare is decades ahead of its time. With great special effects and some haunting scenes of London in crisis, including a dried up Thames, this is far more than just a 60′s B movie. This is an apocalyptic vision of a future that today feels frighteningly feasible.
