Synopsis

Normal life is grim for 19 year old Tony (John Travolta). He’s in a dead end job, lives at home and constantly argues with his parents. But when the weekend comes he’s the Disco King. Opportunity knocks when he meets Stephanie (Gorney) who might just be his ticket to a better life.

The film that made Oscar nominated John Travolta’s career, it’s got possibly the greatest soundtrack of all time and, of course, that suit. But Saturday Night Fever is nonetheless a gritty 70s tale of working class life and the failure of the American dream. Violence, misogyny and tragedy easily balance out the many musical highs.
