Synopsis
This Christmas everyone will believe in Santa Claus! In the frozen wilderness of Lapland, an American expedition locates the original Santa Claus, buried in an ice-filled mountain. Pietari, son of reindeer hunter Rauno, realises that the original, vengeful Santa has been released from his frozen prison and local children have begun to mysteriously disappear.
Jalmari Helander’s first feature captures the spirit of classic kid’s adventure movies such as Gremlins but with the welcome addition of slaughtered reindeer and plentiful geriatric-male nudity. Combining black-humour, horror and a genuinely sweet, authentic Christmas spirit, Rare Exports: a Christmas Tale is destined to become a deliciously twisted Christmas favourite.
