Synopsis

Two seemingly unrelated deaths lead dogged Detective (Ingvar Eggert Sigurðsson) on a journey through the Icelandic criminal underworld, the genetic make-up of the Icelandic nation and the harrowing truth about his own deeply troubled daughter.

Based on the popular Arnaldur Indriða novels, Jar City is as foreboding as a bleak northern winter. Director of ’101 Reykjavik’, Baltasar Kormákur’s beautifully shot police procedural cleaned up at the 2006 Edda Awards, Iceland’s equivalent to the BAFTAs.
