Synopsis
We’re off to a flying start as we put our pedal to the metal with our first film of the season, Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive.
Whether it’s for the movies or the mob, Ryan Gosling drives. It is what he does, it is who he is. But life gets complicated when his neighbour, Carey Mulligan (Dr Who, An Education) asks for some help, and her husband gets out of prison.
One of the coolest films of recent years, this Cannes award winner for Best Director, brings to mind classics like Bullet and the Clint Eastwood character, the man with no name. It’s a Hollywood fairy tale that’s as much European art house as it is B-movie grindhouse. All in all a great way to get the new season off to a cracking start!
