An incredible film about an amazing man and one of the best documentaries I’ve ever seen. An astonishing decision by the Oscars not to even long-list it for Best Doc.

Last night’s double bill of Laurel and Hardy and The General was quite simply one of the best film experiences I have enjoyed. Not just during the two years of Crystal Palace Pictures, but ever!

Aside from two truly great films – true genius at work in both cases – the night was made by the musical talents of Igor Outkine whose accordion helped bring Buster Keaton to life. We have definitely found a regular feature for future seasons.

Tonight at the BAFTAS, Chris Morris won Outstanding Debut for best Director/Writer! Excellent stuff, and in a few weeks we’re showing a nominee in the same category: Skeletons. Looks like we share good taste with the Bafta committee

A brilliant film but would love to see again. Made by David Bowie’s son. Models are very Thunderbirds but a great story.

This is such a great film, I’m so glad we’ve got it as the season opener! It’s a real human story, amazingly well crafted and very well held together by Sam Rockwell. Sci-fi can often be a difficult sell to a broad audience, but this film isn’t about lasers and space ships (the best sci-fi never is), as it works on a deeply emotional level.

Proper old-school sci-fi with a heart. And virtually no CGI. How refreshing!

I loved this, and I loved the short, also by JJ Johnson, about the mini-golf tournament. Honestly, one of the funniest docs I’ve ever seen.

Great to see a sci-fi film that is more concerned with ideas than big explosions. Saying that though, the special effects are charming – straight out of Space 1999. I really enjoyed this.
